According to the Life magazine article, this bowl was used for the Scorpion drink. It's probably from about 1944 also as it appears in the same photo. I don't know much about how pottery is made, but both the Kava and Scorpion bowls that I own do not have any crazing, which I think makes them appear newer than they really are. One of the oldest and rarest Trader Vics bowls- way to go Tiki Bong!
